Therapists

Hi, I’m Candace.

I bring a lot of passion to what I do in connection with others. I provide therapy and wellbeing services from a feminist and multi-cultural perspective. You will quickly find my clinical approach to be relaxed, relatable, and professional.

I utilize a variety of regulation and relation-based interventions to address stress, trauma, and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other conditions. I’m a science geek at heart which means I actively incorporate current research and science into everyday applications.

Modern Minds is a space I get to think outside of the box, outside of the traditional limits of other clinic settings, to support clients with personalized strategies to improve their mental and overall wellbeing. With over 14 years of clinical mental health experience and 20 years in healthcare settings, creativity and high professional integrity keep me motivated to continue to support others in making change happen.

On being local:

I moved to Minnesota in 2005 by way of Washington State, Hawaii, and California. Born in southern California, my roots are anything but local. I continue to develop my connections here and within the surrounding rural communities. And in deciding to open up a mental health clinic in my community, one of the biggest questions I get is, “Isn’t it weird to know clients outside of the office?” Dual relationships, from a clinical perspective, are relationships that we were trained to limit and avoid. While confidentiality and professional integrity are critical elements to keeping dual relationships healthy, rural life also allows for opportunity to be more authentic and inclusive. In small communities, it’s harder to shield elements of who we are.

Outside of the office, you will likely find me with a ballcap on, outside with my kids or my dogs, and supporting a variety of community events.

Personal interests:

  • Learning to keep plants alive at home and in the office
  • Running on gravel roads and trails
  • Chaser of the sun and waterways for all the days
  • Animal lover and rescue dog owner
